Religious Community Service (RCS) is a non-profit, Christian, faith based organization based in New Bern. They serve individuals, and families of craven, jones, and pamlico counties, by not only providing the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter, but also several other programs, including help to abuse victims, education and job placement, and a food bank, all helping our neighbors who are struggling to make it with little or limited resources. Almost all the work to provide these resources is provided by volunteers from local churches, businesses, and individuals. Since around Feb 2021, Trenton Methodist Church has provided a team of usually 5-6 volunteers from our congregation to assist this highly respected, worthy organization in their community kitchen, helping them in their mission to provide hot, healthy, nutritious, and delicious mid- day meals to anyone who shows up. We meet at the kitchen on our scheduled day (3rd Wednesday of every month) at 8 am, and with the help of the kitchen manager and one skilled kitchen worker we prepare and serve the meals. It has been a great time of serving, and fellowship, and most importantly brings the added privilege of allowing us in some small way to pass along of our own many blessings and the Love of God to others and hopefully with additional volunteers.
